What do you mean TFS can't rollback code? It performs that just fine with any version of any file you have in the repository. And if you'd like to track things outside of VS, then I suggest using the TFS Web Access (formerly TeamPlain Web Access). It's free and super simple to install/configure. 10/9/2007 10:03 AM | Dave

Well its entirely possible that I am an idiot. ;)

Man oh man, I spent 30 minutes trying to get TFS to do a rollback and merge on Thursday and I was just burnt by the experience. If you have any tips or tricks on this I would love to hear your thoughts.

The only way to do a true rollback is to install the TFS Power Tools

Otherwise you have to do a poor-man's rollback by getting a specific version, checkout desired files, then checkin old files. I'm in the midst of a 45 minute checkout with TFS - for a bunch of image files that haven't changed. Oh, now it's telling me that I have to do what amounts to a two hour merge because THE FILES HAVE THE READ-ONLY BIT UNSET. And it has to resolve the 850 file conflicts ONE FILE AT A TIME over a WAN.

TFS is likely the biggest POS (piece of shit) I have worked with in recent memory. My advice is to start the slow battle to replace it with Subversion.
